Requirements

Certification to become an Official consists of four steps: Registration, Completion of the Online Video Modules on the Laws Of The Game (LOTG), Attendance of a Classroom Clinic, and Passing a written exam with a score of 80% or higher. The minimum age required to work within competitive leagues is 14 years old - individuals under the age of 14 interested in officiating should contact their district referee administrator for more information.

You will be required to pay your annual United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Certification fee of $80 in order to complete the registration process. This fee covers annual liability insurance for the registrant, classroom & testing materials, as well as administrative fees associated with the certification process.

Registration

Go online to :   Alaska.gameofficials.net and select "Sign Up For A Course" and select the "Grade 8 Entry Level Referee" and identify the clinic date you are interested in attending. Create an account and follow the steps provided to complete your registration. If you do not see a clinic date listed, contact your local Referee Administrator for information on the next upcoming clinic.

After completing the registration process, you will have access to a Session Tracker for the clinic in which you are registered. The first component is a Video Module Series on the Laws of the Game. Select and complete the Video Module Series on the LOTG. After completing the video modules, you will be required to attend the classroom clinic, and complete the written test(s) for your appropriate grade of certification with a  score of 80% or higher.
